SPICED Workflow Track

A critical event without evidence is an assumption.

COMMIT-OS records what customers demonstrate — per SPICED element.

What SPICED is used for

SPICED (Situation, Pain, Impact, Critical Event, Decision) is a qualification framework developed by Winning by Design for recurring revenue and SaaS environments. It emphasises customer impact, urgency via critical events and evidence-driven deal progression.

Where execution breaks down

  • Critical Event is fabricated or over-relied on to manufacture urgency
  • Impact is not quantified with customer data but with estimates
  • Pain is interpreted by the AM, not formulated by the customer
  • Decision criteria are internally assumed without customer confirmation
  • SPICED fields are filled in after the call, not based on evidence

What COMMIT-OS makes visible

  • Whether the critical event actually exists and was confirmed by the customer
  • Whether impact was quantified with customer-validated data
  • Whether the pain was formulated by the customer
  • Which SPICED elements have evidence vs. which are assumptions
  • Deals with a fabricated urgency profile

What gets captured

  • Customer confirmation of critical event with date and context
  • Quantified impact statements validated by the customer
  • Pain statements directly from the customer
  • Decision criteria aligned with customer feedback
  • Evidence of customer movement per SPICED stage

How this improves deal reviews and forecast

SPICED deal reviews become sharper because critical event claims are tested on evidence. Forecast confidence improves when customer impact is demonstrable.
